Management Information Systems Concentration

Business Administration, BAS

In-Demand Careers

The Management Information Systems (MIS) concentration emphasizes both business and computer technology skills, thus training students how to find technology-based solutions to important business and management problems. MIS students learn how businesses use information to improve the company’s operations and how to manage various information systems so that they best serve the needs of managers, staff, and customers.

The concentration is intended to prepare students for an entry-level position in a computer information systems department. All organizations rely on computer and information technology (IT) to conduct business; therefore, management information systems professionals work in almost all industries such as manufacturing, banking, insurance, retail, health care, and government.

Management information systems is an ever-changing and challenging field that will continue to grow. If you have a love of computers and business, and want to learn more about modern computer technology, computer databases, networks, computer security, and more, this is the concentration for you.
