Sonia KovalevskyThis program is in honor of Sonya Kovalevsky, an outstanding 19th century mathematician and the first woman to receive a doctoral degree in mathematics. It is a one - day event with mathematics activities organized for high school girls and their teachers (male or female). The purpose is to encourage young women to continue their study of mathematics and prepare for possible careers in mathematics - related fields.

Join us on the campus of Mississippi University for Women (MUW) for the Sonia Kovalevsky High School Mathematics Day. The event includes a mathematics competition exam and mathematics workshops for high school girls and their teachers.

At The W, our faculty are well known for the personalized attention that they pay to students. During this time you will get to meet with faculty from each of our areas in their Colleges. You’ll be able to tour their facilities and learn what it’s like to be a W student!

Interested in living on campus? During this session, you will meet with The W’s Housing & Residence Life staff and learn what it’s like to live in the residence halls. Session will repeat at 3:05.

The W’s campus is absolutely beautiful! See what we have to offer on a walking tour of campus led by one of our current students.  We will also showcase our residence halls and our recreation center. School excuses will be available during the tour time as well.
