CPDC Faculty and Staff

TEACHING STAFF

Our faculty is the most valuable part of our program. Our teachers have, at minimum, a four-year college degree and specific training in early childhood education. They have a deep understanding of child development and teaching methods, allowing them to promote children's social and cognitive development.

Our staff is trained to engage children in meaningful conversation, expand their knowledge and vocabulary, use open-ended questioning, and encourage problem-solving skills.

Teachers teach important concepts such as mathematics and early literacy through projects, everyday experiences, collaborative activities, and active curriculum. Teachers regularly assess each child's progress and make adjustments as necessary.  All teachers receive state employee benefits and receive a minimum of 25 hours of professional development each year.

Assistant Teachers and Caregivers

Our teacher's aides and caregiving staff have a minimum of an associate’s degree or two years of college. We also have high-quality interns and energetic work study students who serve as teacher assistants, afternoon caregivers, and substitutes.

All teachers, caregivers, students, staff, and volunteers (with over 100 hours) have been cleared through a criminal records check (fingerprinting), child abuse central registry check, sex offender registry check, and we have obtained a Mississippi Department of Health Letter of Suitability for Employment.

Employment Opportunities

All CPDC jobs (institutional student and public) are posted through the University employment website. Please check with financial aid if you are interested in federal work study positions.
