Welcome Home!

Each year we welcome around 550 students to the on-campus community.

Research across the United States over the last 40 years has provided compelling evidence that students who live in university-provided housing perform better academically, and enjoy a higher degree of satisfaction with their college experience, than students who live off-campus or commute.

A student who lives in The W’s residence halls is more likely to:

  • Take full advantage of campus resources.
  • Be more involved in campus activities and educational programs.
  • Complete more credit hours per semester.
  • Achieve greater academic success.
  • Complete their studies and attain their degree.
  • Be more satisfied with the overall university experience.

Upcoming Renovation

The Office of Housing and Residence Life is anticipating that Jones Hall’s renovation project will begin the May 2024. With this renovation project, there will be some changes that we must make with regards to assignments. We are anticipating that spaces will be limited. With this in mind, we will only be offering private rooms for approved accommodations or if the room is already designed as a private. Once opened, we can determine what space we have that will allow us to offer those rooms as private. We will have the residence halls set up for the following students:

  • Callaway Hall – Upper-class Female Students
    • 1st Floor – Nursing Learning Community

    • 2nd Floor – Greek and Social Learning Community

  • Columbus Hall – Upper-class Male Students

  • Grossnickle Hall – Honors

  • Hastings-Simmons Hall – Upper-class Female Students

  • Jones Hall – Closed

  • Kincannon Hall – Freshman Female/Male Students

    • Overflow Upper-class Female/Male Students

Assignments will be based on classification. Returning students (students currently living on campus) will get to select their room the week of April 15th-19th. New Students will get to select their room the week of June 3rd-7th, if they applied prior to June 1st.

Mission

Housing and Residence Life strives to provide a safe, comfortable, and affordable student-centered community that promotes human awareness, in addition to the personal development and academic success of each student.
