W CampusCOLUMBUS, Miss. -- Mississippi University for Women will again host the Teachers of the Gifted Instructional Forum (T.G.I.F.) that focuses on current issues and strategies related to the field of Gifted Studies.

Centered on the theme “The 21st Century Gifted Educator,” this year’s program will feature a team of well-qualified presenters from AHA: Advocates for High Ability Learners, a nationwide non-profit corporation that has provided information and training in various areas around the midwest.

This event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013, and the pre-registration fee of $40 includes breakfast and lunch. MUW will offer 0.7 CEU credits for an additional $20.00.

Online professional development opportunities often lack relevance for gifted educators, so field-specific events such as T.G.I.F. are of utmost importance to facilitate growth in teachers’ knowledge and skills, as well as provide them with opportunities to network with other professionals.

The MUW Gifted Studies faculty requests that you encourage and support your gifted specialists to attend T.G.I.F. in order to gain strategies and resources necessary to be effective 21st Century gifted educators.

While T.G.I.F. addresses the needs of gifted learners, we believe the information in our program is also extremely beneficial to teachers in the regular classroom.

With a better understanding of advanced learners and knowledge of strategies that support their learning, teachers in the regular and gifted classrooms are able to design an improved collaborative approach to meet the needs of all learners.
