The Mississippi State Committee raises the museum’s profile and does grassroots advocacy on behalf of women artists in the region. They plan local programs that highlight NMWA’s mission, exhibitions, collection, and activities. Committee members work with NMWA staff to increase membership; donate works of art; and fund exhibitions, education programs, and object conservation.

The MSC recognizes the outstanding achievements of women art students at the universities in the state. Ariel Shuffield, an art student at The W, received one of three scholarships awarded by the MSC this academic year.

The National Museum of Women in the Arts is located at 1250 New York Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C., in a landmark building near the White House. For more information about NMWA, call (202) 783-5000 or visit www.nmwa.org, Broad Strokes Blog, Facebook or Twitter.
