Mississippi State CapitolCOLUMBUS, Miss. – Representatives from The W will be at the Mississippi State Capitol Wednesday as part of an event to show how the eight public universities are helping solve the state’s most pressing problems.

 

The W will showcase several of the great offerings of the university in the Capitol’s Rotunda.

Representatives from the College of Nursing and Speech Pathology will provide blood pressure checks and body mass index (BMI) evaluations; the College of Education and Human Sciences will demonstrate the latest in interactive educational techniques; the Roger F. Wicker Center for Creative Learning will conduct interactive learning activities utilizing tablet computers; the Culinary Arts Institute will provide healthy, delicious snacks to visitors.

The event will take place inside the Capitol Building from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and is hosted by the Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL).

The Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning governs the public universities in Mississippi, including Alcorn State University; Delta State University; Jackson State University; Mississippi State University including the Mississippi State University Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine; Mississippi University for Women; Mississippi Valley State University; the University of Mississippi including the University of Mississippi Medical Center; and the University of Southern Mississippi.
