COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Mississippi University for Women’s RN to BSN program was recently ranked the fourth best hybrid-online and campus-based classroom experience among 700 nationwide programs.

The rankings were produced by RNtoBSN.org, a group of professional nurses, educators, writers and editors committed to furthering nursing education. RNtoBsn.org seeks to connect current and prospective nurses with the resources needed to pursue and obtain their BSN.

“Picking a program isn't as simple as just applying and enrolling; there are so many more factors at play. How does this affect a student financially? Their career? Their family? The list goes on. Such an important decision is daunting and time-consuming, so we wanted to help by stepping in as that first filter,” said Grace Gordon, RNtoBSN.org’s public relations manager.  “We looked at all of the RN to BSN programs in the U.S. and assessed them based on many factors; only the programs that excelled in every consideration made the final cut.”

Qualifications considered for the ranking the universities were accreditation, commitment to online education, academic and career counseling services and academic quality. Also, affordability and a dedication to nursing and furthering the education of nurses were qualities found in the top universities and colleges. The organization found that The W demonstrated excellence in all areas.

“We are honored to have our RN to BSN Program recognized nationally for its excellence.  The program has an outstanding group of administrators, faculty and staff.  They are committed to ensuring the students in the program receive the personal attention needed to be successful,” said Dr. Shelia Adams, dean of the College of Nursing and Speech-Language Pathology.

The W’s RN/BSN Advanced Placement Option is designed for the working registered nurse who is interested in a flexible learning option to obtain a baccalaureate degree. The W offers both a partial distance option and total distance option based on the student’s needs. The RN/BSN Advanced Placement Option is housed at The W's Tupelo Campus.
