COLUMBUS, Miss. – Mississippi University for Women’s holiday season titled Winter Fest at The W officially kicks off Monday, Nov. 27 followed by a series of events.

Students, faculty, staff and the community are invited to The W’s holiday celebration, which will include a host of activities for guests to attend. Culinary students will serve wassail from the Project CHEW food truck at the annual Wassail Fest scheduled Friday, Dec. 1, 5-8 p.m., downtown Columbus.

“We have a variety of events planned as we wrap up the fall semester,” said President Jim Borsig. “We look forward to having friends on campus throughout the rest of the holiday season.”

Festivities on campus will begin with the lighting of The W Nov. 27 at 7 p.m., following the downtown tree lighting. Guests are invited to drive or walk through historic campus and enjoy lights, wreaths and decorated trees to get into the holiday spirit.

Festival of Trees
Tuesday, Dec. 5, 5 p.m.

Students from The W compete to decorate trees for the holiday season; half of the proceeds are donated to the charity of the winner’s choice. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will stop by to celebrate and take photos.

A recital of the MUW piano majors. Works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and much more, as well as beloved Christmas arrangements.

Relax and enjoy a range of holiday selections by The W’s choirs under the director of Dr. Phillip Stockton.

While major events will wrap up Dec. 9, lights on campus will be up until January for guests to enjoy.
