Oswalt

COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Subrina Oswalt, a senior in the Ina E. Gordy Honors College, presented her research at the 52nd Annual Conference of the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) held in Atlanta.

As part of the Arts and Humanities student poster session, Oswalt discussed her research on money, trust and affective polarization in U.S. presidential elections. The conference was held Nov. 9-12.

By analyzing the results of a survey and focus groups she conducted, Oswalt explored relationships between political action committees, trust in government, party identity and dislike for those in the opposing party.

Also representing the Gordy Honors College was senior Gabrielle Lestrade, president of The W’s Honors Student Council.

Oswalt also moderated three panels in the section of the conference on honors education and programming, which focused especially on issues of diversity and inclusiveness as reflected in this year’s theme “Just Honors.”

The mission of the NCHC, with almost 900 institutional members, is to support and enhance the community of educational institutions, professionals, and students who participate in collegiate honors education around the world.
