COLUMBUS, Miss. –Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to go for the gold by participating in the university’s annual Spring Fitness Challenge.

Campus Recreation and Passport to Wellness are presenting the 2018 Spring Fitness Challenge: Go for the Gold. Simultaneously as athletes from around the world are striving for gold in the Winter Olympics, participants in the fitness challenge will work toward a healthier lifestyle with support from the Stark Recreation Center.

“Going for the Gold simply means making strides to become the best you,” said Marion McEwen, wellness coordinator. “Gold is the top shelf prize, more importantly, it’s a way to challenge yourself through physical fitness, to succeed by making healthy food choices and to be supported by a community of encouragement.”

The annual Rec Fitness Kickoff will kick-off the Spring Fitness Challenge Thursday, Jan. 18 at 5:30 p.m. The rec center will demo classes and door prizes will be awarded to participants.

Campus Recreation will support fitness challenge participants by offering opportunities to take part in Rec Fitness classes, Boot Camp, personal training as well as an open rec time in the strength and conditioning room.
