Department of Graduate Nursing
The W's Graduate Nursing Program was established in 1974 to offer a plan of study leading to a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. Today, in addition to the MSN, we offer a programs leading to a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or a Post-Graduate APRN Certificate. This historic program has maintained full nursing accreditation status since its initial accreditation.
Five Ways to Advance Your Career
Currently, there is one clinical track leading to eligibility to sit for national board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
The post-graduate APRN Certificate Program - APRN-to-FNP option is designed for nurse practitioners who hold a Master of Science in Nursing degree but are nationally certified in another specialty.
The post-graduate APRN Certificate Program - RN-to-FNP option is designed for individuals who are not nurse practitioners but hold a Master of Science in Nursing degree.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is offered specifically for nurse practitioners who wish to increase their knowledge base concerning safe and effective primary patient care for diverse populations.
The W offers a pathway for nurses with a baccalaureate degree in nursing to earn a doctorate. The BSN to DNP pathway can be completed in a as little as eight terms.
