COLUMBUS, Miss-- An exhibition featuring the artwork of four graduating art majors will be on display at the Mississippi University for Women Galleries April 18- May 6.

“BFA Thesis Exhibition 2022” will highlight the works of artists Amyah Kahey, Jamie Henderson, Sarah Gilliland and Javonte Guyton. All are applying for graduation with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Henderson, from Brookhaven, will feature paintings and drawing inspired by black identity and African masks. He uses non-naturalistic color and contrast to create emotion in his surrealist portrait paintings.

Kahey, a Columbus native, will show work that is stylistically inspired by early 20th-century art movements. Her work is characterized by lettering and color choice to convey social issues. Gilliland, of

Brandon, will be exhibiting bold, exciting and playful graphic design works that focus on the use of lettering as the main design element. Guyton, a Columbus native, will also be exhibiting graphic designs and illustrations with a strong focus on space and color.

Henderson, Kahey and Guyton are graduating seniors perusing careers in graphic design.

The Mississippi University for Women Galleries are open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, following the academic schedule. The Galleries are located in Summer Hall on The W campus and are free and open to the public. For more information, please call 662-329-7431 or email
