MFA in Creative Writing Receives Final Approval

Mississippi University for Women has received a letter dated August 13, 2015, from Dr. Belle S. Wheelan, President of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, acknowledging the receipt of all supporting documentation of our proposal to implement the Low-Residency MFA in Creative Writing and approving the program to begin in August 2015. The program is approved as "within the scope of the current accreditation."

The W to offer MFA in creative writing

COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Mississippi University for Women will soon offer a new low-residency master’s of fine arts program in creative writing. On Nov. 20, 2014, The Board of Trustees of the state Institutions of Higher Learning of Mississippi approved the university’s proposal to offer the new program, which is set to launch in August 2015, pending approval of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

Eudora Welty Writers’ Symposium to feature Tim Parrish and Deborah Johnson

COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Louisiana native Tim Parrish will present the keynote reading for the 26th annual Eudora Welty Writers’ Symposium, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m., reading from his memoir “Fear and What Follows: The violent education of a Christian racist” and his new novel “The Jumper,” which transport readers to the gritty streets of working class Baton Rouge.
