Mathematics

The mathematics program is an integral part of the small college atmosphere of The W. Our classes are small and taught by outstanding faculty members who love mathematics and love teaching. Every student is treated as an individual. Our program provides quality instruction, individual academic advising by faculty members, a range of student activities, and guidance as to the next step after obtaining a degree from The W.

The W offers a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Schiences path in Mathematics, as well as a Mathematics (BS) with Teacher Certification. We also offers minors in Mathematics for non-major students who would like to enhance their major coursework with mathematics.

MathematicsGraduates

Studying mathematics not only prepares a student for careers with an obvious mathematical foundation, but also develops fundamental skills of reasoning, critical thinking, problem solving, and communication that are valuable in any career and throughout life. Recent graduates in mathematics have continued on to jobs as actuaries, computer programmers, and mathematics teachers. Other graduates have moved on to doctoral programs in mathematics at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and the University of Missouri in Columbia. Other places that our recent graduates have gone include graduate school in engineering, graduate school in computer science, and seminary school.
