APIL Teaching Innovation Grants
Have you been looking for a way to try something new in the classroom, either in a new or existing course? Would you like to incorporate active learning, problem-based learning, or inquiry-based learning (APIL) teaching methodologies, but aren't sure where to start? Do you have a wonderful idea to increase student engagement but lack the funds to buy necessary materials? If so, an APIL Teaching Innovation Grant from the Kossen Center for Teaching & Learning may be just the thing for you!
The Kossen Center is encouraging faculty to experiment with APIL teaching strategies in the classroom. Multiple studies have shown that APIL teaching strategies lead to increased student engagement and improved subject-knowledge retention. This grant program originated as part of the University's QEP to develop intellectual curiosity and a love of learning in our students. Its purpose is to fund small- or medium-scale pedagogical projects designed by faculty from across the university with the goal of having a direct, positive impact on student learning.
