Canvas

Canvas is the Learning Management System, or LMS, for The W. It can be used to support teaching in face-to-face, hybrid, and online environments. It works across all major platforms and is avaiable in app form for iOS and Android.

Qualtrics

MUW offers access to Qualtrics survey software. This software is available to all employees and students with an muw.edu email address. To create an account, simply go to https://muw.qualtrics.com, choose Mississippi University for Women and sign in to the WConnect portal and accept the user agreement.

Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS)

MUW utilizes SPSS Statistics Base software for classroom instruction and data gathering/analysis. SPSS is supplied on all MUW issued computers. We also have a site license that provides “At Home” use to all MUW faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students to use SPSS on personal devices. If you would like to receive instructions on how to install on your personal device, please contact the ITS office at (662) 329-7282.

Respondus LockDown Browser

Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within Canvas. When students use Respondus LockDown Browser they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications. When an assessment is started, students are locked into it until they submit it for grading. Available for Windows, Mac and iOS.

Zoom

Zoom is a web-based video conferencing tool with a local, desktop client and a mobile app that allows users to meet online, with or without video. Zoom users can choose to record sessions, collaborate on projects, and share or annotate on one another’s screens, all with one easy-to-use platform. Meetings can host up to 100 participants, making this a great tool for online course meetings, group projects, and virtual advising.

Respondus 4.0

Respondus 4.0 is a powerful tool for creating and managing exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to Canvas. Exams can be created offline using a familiar Windows environment, or moved from one LMS to another. Whether you are a veteran of online testing or relatively new to it, Respondus will save you hours on each project.

YouTube

YouTube is a video-sharing web site that allows registered users to upload and share video clips. This allows the instructor or student access to a vast collection of resources that can greatly influence the class inside and outside of the classroom. Instructors can use existing videos for a course or upload videos created from a PC, Mac, or handheld device.

Doceri

Using Doceri, your presentations are right at your fingertips.  Launch and control PowerPoint or Keynote slideshows from your iPad and use annotations to make your presentation come alive.  You can even save your annotations along with the PowerPoint or Keynote slides as a Doceri project so you can use it again, edit it for a different class, or create a screencast.
