When Rose is not giving her all to our W students, she stays busy with her growing family. She is married to Dr. Lee Ford (optometrist at Golden Triangle Eye Clinic). They have two wild and rowdy little boys, Henry (7) and Don (5), that cause all the gray hairs (for Rose anyway, her husband has rubbed his head bald)! Rose’s stepdaughter, Nikki, and son-in-love, Taylor, just made her a “Grams” with the addition of Wren Leigh. Rose’s stepson, Bo, just transferred to the W and is pursuing his goals in culinary arts.
Rose doesn’t have much time for hobbies but loves to cook for her family and at church gatherings.
Rose is a member of the Long Blue Line, having graduated in 2005 (BS in Elementary Education) and 2007 (ME in Reading & Literacy). Before teaching in Higher Education, she taught for nine years in five schools, varying levels from PK-8th grade, and was also a Literacy Leader.
Rose is currently working on her Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a focused study in Literacy. She pursues ongoing professional development to strengthen our literacy teacher preparation program and supports our local community’s initiatives to enhance students’ learning success. She became certified as a Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) Local Facilitator. Rose stands by our School of Education’s mission statement for a lifelong learning education model.
