Recycling Program
About the recycling program
During the 1990 Legislative Session, the Mississippi Legislature passed and the Governor signed into law the Mississippi Multimedia Waste Minimization Act of 1990. This law requires all state agencies to have a recycling program. In order to be in compliance with this law MUW has established a campus wide recycling program.
This program is funded in part by grant money received from the Pollution Prevention and Recycling Grants awarded through the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality as well as contributions made by the university. The funds received are to be used to purchase recycling equipment, storage facilities, contractual services and educational material.
Facilities Management is responsible for coordinating and maintaining all recycling activities. Any questions, comments or ideas should be directed to the Facilities Management office at 329-7396.
Items currently being collected
MUW is currently collecting glass, plastic, cardboard, paper, and cans for recycling. All items can be placed in the blue container located at the Old Mag lot.
