barefoot on the bridge

COLUMBUS, Miss. – Passport to Wellness will host its fourth annual Barefoot on the Bridge yoga event Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m.at the Columbus Riverwalk.

“The event was moved to October with the hopes of having cooler fall temps and to attract more participants,” said Melinda Lowe, interim director of Outreach & Innovation at Mississippi University for Women. “Last year we had a little more than 100 to participate. This year’s goal is 150-200.”

No shoes and a lot of relaxation will be the focus of the yoga event facilitated by Bliss Yoga.

The first 25 attendees will receive a free yoga mat. In addition, The W’s Project CHEW (Cook Healthy, Eat Well) will serve smoothies.

Barefoot on the Bridge is open to the public and participants should pre-register at the following link: www.facebook.com/wwellness. Onsite registration will also be available.

Passport to Wellness is made possible through a grant from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation. It addresses the problem of unhealthy lifestyle choices relating to diet, physical activity and stress management. The program operates within Columbus/Lowndes County to serve the residents of this community.
