United Way

The W will be one of many organizations partnering with the United Way to improve the local and surrounding community. The campaign started Monday, Oct. 1 and concludes Friday, Oct. 19.

The mission of the United Way is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good. The United Way of Lowndes County fights for the health education and financial stability of every person in each community.

The “Live United” campaign will encourage students, faculty and staff to support the United Way and its 17 partnering agencies that impact the surrounding community. The goal of the campaign is to raise more than $5,500. The second goal of the campaign is to have as many students, faculty and staff as possible participate in the campaign by contributing or volunteering with the United Way. The campaign is about more than raising money for a worthy cause; it also strengthens connections between students, faculty and staff and their community.

“The United Way Campaign gives The W family an opportunity to provide a unified and positive response to our community,” said Sirena Cantrell, campaign coordinator.

Contributions to the “Live United” campaign can be made by filling out the pledge card that was distributed on Monday, Oct 1. United Way gifts can be one time gifts or a reoccurring payroll deduction. The cards can be returned to campaign coordinator, Sirena Cantrell.
