Title III –Part A Programs – Strengthening Institutions
Grant Duration: 5 Years (October 2018 – September 2023)
Award Amount : $1.5 million
Title III Grants are focused on helping eligible institutions of higher education to become self-sufficient and expand their capacity to serve low-income students by providing funds to improve and strengthen the academic quality, institutional management, and fiscal stability of eligible institutions.
Project Goals
Goal 1: Increase success and retention of incoming freshmen, including at-risk students
- Redesign Intermediate Education (IE) Courses
- Professional Development for IE Instructors
- Release time for faculty-led enhancements, improvements, or redesign
- Establish Peer Mentoring program
- Implement web-based tutoring program
Goal 2: Improve the academic advising process for all students
- •Expand targeted counseling services and outreach to faculty
- •Implement comprehensive training and support program for faculty advisors
- •Establish Advising Fellows program for continued professional development
- Implement an electronic degree audit and data analytics system (Degree Works)
Measurable Objectives (by September 2023)
- Increase to 43% the 150% graduation rate
- 90% of faculty and staff advisors will receive training on comprehensive advising practices
- 90% of faculty and staff advisors will be proficient in use of degree audit and advising software
- 90% of Academic Affairs leadership and staff will be proficient in retrieving, analyzing and incorporating tracked data into their daily practices
