Blood Drive to be held at The W

Female student

The W will host a blood drive Tuesday, April 5 and 6 at Hogarth Student Center. The drive will take place on Tuesday, April 5 from 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday, April 6 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Celebrate Division III week

The W Athletics Department is participating in the national NCAA Division III Week April 4-10. The event – which is geared to spotlight the student-athlete in D3 athletics - focuses on academics, leadership, service and campus involvement.

A Monday Kickoff event – Meet the Coaches and refreshments – will be on the green space across from Reneau Hall from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.  Other activities include a Celebrate the STUDENT-Athlete video release (Tuesday), a cookout for our student-athletes (Wednesday) and “Thankful Thursday” (with athletes delivering “thank you” cards to individuals on campus who have made an impact in their time at The W. On the weekend, the events will run in conjunction with Homecoming activities: the Walk with the President and 50th anniversary celebration of the 1971 women’s basketball national championship team on Friday; the Hit It Out of the Park softball field seat dedication on Saturday, and; a "This is The W Athletics" hype video release on Sunday.

UR receives gold

The Office of University Relations was recently announced as Gold Winners by the 2022 AMP Awards. This annual competition recognizes excellence in advertising and promotional work. Association members may submit entries in a wide range of categories, which include various aspects of digital promotion, print, business collateral, sales & packaging, logo, video, audio, out of home, public relations campaign, events and more.

The office was recognized for Visions, the university’s publication for alumni and friends of The W. University Relations members include: Erik Studdard, Chris Jenkins, Adam Minichino, Anika Perkins, Rich Sobolewski and Tyler Wheat.

Speaker series highlights women authors for Women’s History Month

Power of One Book

The Swain Speaker Series will bring coauthors Sally Palmer Thomason and Jean Carter Fisher to Mississippi University for Women to discuss their book, “The Power of One: Sister Anne Brooks and the Tutwiler Clinic,” published in August 2020 by the University Press of Mississippi. The event is set for Thursday, March 24, as part of The W’s Women’s History Month celebration. A book signing will take place from 2-4 p.m. at Friendly City Books, and the lecture will begin at 6 p.m. in Whitfield Hall's Rent Auditorium.
