The foundation of today’s Center for Education Support

The Roger F. Wicker Center for Creative Learning was established in 2004 and was initially funded by a congressionally-directed grant through the US Department of Education. Housed on the campus of Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, MS, the Center provided action-based innovative programs to strengthen communities and was missioned to provide innovations in learning, service, and research. This mission was realized through the development and delivery of quality, innovative programs and services that fell into one of the Center’s three goal areas:

  • To support economic and social advancement for the community;
  • To develop and implement innovative programs and models for positive change;
  • To provide opportunities for professional growth.

Through programs, services, print materials, and technology, the Center served as a vehicle for connecting preK-12 learners, parents, educators, and community members with best practices for innovative learning.
