Las Amigas was the first official social club exclusively for black women at MSCW. The club appears for the first time in the 1976 Meh Lady and continues through 1983. Fox served as the club’s first president.
Las Amigas and the Corettas laid the foundation for the historically black sororities on campus such as Delta Sigma Theta (chapter founded in 1980), Zeta Phi Beta (1983), Alpha Kappa Alpha (1990), the Young Black Leadership Association (2011), and the short-lived Exodus Social Club (1995 – 1999).
